About Us

We would like to welcome you to Florries on the Wall, our lovely bunkhouse and cafe. Florries was born out of a respect for good food and hospitality and our love of hiking, cycling and the great outdoors. As a child, Rebecca would spend sunny afternoons gardening with her grandmother, Florence 'Florrie' Hogg and chatting to the hikers of Hadrian’s wall (fondly known as the ‘woolly ‘ats’) coming up King Bank in need of a rest and refreshments as often they would be stopped by the tempting offer of a lemonade and a bit of cake.

This is where the seeds of Florries on the Wall were sown as Florrie herself had ambitions at that time to set up a tea shop and provide REAL cream teas for the walkers someday!

Fast forward to 2014 and, inspired by Florrie’s ambitions, we have developed the ideally located old barn in the grounds of Kingbank into a bunkhouse and cafe purpose built for guests wishing to explore this beautiful, historic region.
At Florries on the wall pride ourselves on providing a high level of comfort with personal service and good home cooked food. A sustainable philosophy is at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to using local produce in our cooking, heating our bunkhouse with renewable energy and we encourage and applaud our guests efforts to travel to Florrie's under their own steam on foot or by bike.

We look forward to meeting you!

Rebecca and Joss.
